School Improvement Plan for Numeracy
In 2018 we emailed out questionnaires to parents and pupils to get their feedback on how Maths was being taught in our school. We also asked teachers to give their viewpoint. The results were very interesting!! It is the basis for our Numeracy School Improvement Plan (SIP).
Using this information we sat down as a staff and thrashed out ideas on how to address some of the concerns and how to progress Maths.
In our Numeracy SIP, you will be able to see all the targets that we will be working towards over the next 3 years . Some of these are being put in place this year and some will be implemented over the coming years.
Please have a read of our Numeracy SIP. We will keep you updated with progress.

Mata sa Rang
Mata sa Rang offers a unique approach to extending children’s number knowledge, understanding and strategies. It is aimed at children in the junior end of the school.
It focuses on developing:
a facility with number words and number word sequences,
the ability to recognise, identify and write numerals,
emerging strategies for adding and subtracting,
emerging knowledge of the tens and ones aspect of the numeration system,
and emerging methods of notation in arithmetic.
There are currently four teachers in Ballingarry who are trained in Mata sa Rang.
